The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has issued an important notice confirming that the Hindi Shorthand (Ashulekhan) and Hindi Typing Proficiency Skill Test for Stenographer posts will be conducted from 1 September 2026. This skill test applies to 18,556 shortlisted candidates who qualified on the basis of their Main Written Exam score under Advertisement No. 09-Pariksha/2023 (Stenographer Main Exam, Pra.A.P.-2022) and Advertisement No. 13-Pariksha/2024 (Stenographer Main Exam, Pra.A.P.-2023). The Commission has also specified which Hindi typing fonts will be accepted during the test. Here is everything candidates need to know.

About This Recruitment
This skill test covers candidates from two separate Stenographer recruitment drives that the Commission has combined for the skill-test stage:
- Advertisement No. 09-Pariksha/2023 – Stenographer Main Exam (Pra.A.P.-2022)/08, originally notified for 277 posts.
- Advertisement No. 13-Pariksha/2024 – Stenographer Main Exam (Pra.A.P.-2023)/13.
Candidates were first shortlisted on the basis of UPSSSC PET scores, then appeared in a combined Main Written Exam held on 20 January 2026. Based on their Main Exam scores, all eligible candidates are now required to appear for the Hindi Shorthand and Hindi Typing Proficiency Skill Test starting 1 September 2026.

Accepted Hindi Fonts for the Skill Test
This is the key update in the 21 August 2026 notice. UPSSSC has clearly specified that the transcription of dictation/shorthand and Hindi typing must be done only in Devanagari script using one of the following fonts:
